INSTINC is looking for a Gallery Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day running of an independent, artist-run contemporary art space in Singapore.

This is a practical, multi-faceted role for someone interested in contemporary art, exhibitions, artists and the behind-the-scenes work of running a gallery. You’ll work closely with the gallery manager, artists and collaborators across exhibitions, events and general gallery operations.

THE ROLE

• Gallery Operations
  Gallery sitting, welcoming visitors, managing enquiries, keeping the space organised, and supporting day-to-day administration.

• Artist & Exhibition Support
  Assisting artists with production and installation, supporting exhibition set-ups and takedowns, preparing labels and materials, and helping coordinate openings, artist talks and public programmes.

• Content & Research
  Assisting with social media and content creation, updating exhibition information, and researching artists, exhibitions and contemporary art topics.

• General
  Supporting the gallery team with research, organisational and administrative tasks, as well as the occasional ad-hoc task that comes with running a small, independent gallery.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Someone who is curious, organised and hands-on, with an interest in contemporary art and a willingness to get involved across different aspects of gallery life.

Previous gallery experience is not essential, but we value a genuine interest in working with artists and within an independent art space.

ROLE DETAILS

Duration: 3 months, starting immediately with the possibility of extension.
Commitment: Wednesday–Friday, 1–7pm; Saturday–Sunday, 1–6pm

INSTINC is looking for a freelance videographer / photographer to create engaging social media content documenting artists, their studios and creative processes across Singapore.

This is a freelance project, suited to someone with a strong visual eye who can capture both polished and candid moments: from the atmosphere of a studio to the details of an artist’s process.

THE ROLE

• Video & Photography
  Creating short-form vertical video and high-resolution photography for Instagram and other social platforms, including artist portraits, studio environments, works in progress, materials and creative processes.

• Content Creation
  Producing engaging, natural and visually considered content that reflects each artist and their practice, rather than feeling overly staged.

• Editing
  Editing vertical Reels / TikToks with basic cuts, pacing, colour grading and text overlays.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Someone with experience in both video and still photography, a strong sense of composition, light, movement and atmosphere, and an ability to work comfortably within different artist studios and working environments.

You should be organised, reliable and comfortable managing a recurring freelance schedule, with your own camera and basic production equipment.

Experience working with artists, galleries, creative studios or cultural organisations is a plus. A distinctive visual style, strong storytelling instincts, or experience with light-touch artist interviews would also be welcomed.

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support the gallery across exhibitions, visitors, events and general operations during this busy period.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Someone who is reliable, proactive and curious about contemporary art, with an interest in experiencing the behind-the-scenes work of an independent gallery.

Previous gallery experience isn't necessary; we're looking for people who are willing to get involved, learn and contribute to the team.
