Gallery Description Using Chinese ink on canvases, the spontaneity of the medium compliments the life and energy of city life.

Stirred by the city’s ever-changing nature, the form and content of Urbanseries is itself a visual labyrinth. With construction and de-construction; the spontaneous spawning of new estates, shopping malls, train stations; the vibrant, ever-full-of-energy of the city life and the noise of the traffic or renovation of your neighbour’s apartment, these simultaneous happenings form a composite, a puzzle, a slice of the city experience.

Shih Yun creates abstract paintings of random elements that are part of the engine of the modern society, recording moments and situations through my sub-conscious mind. The urban environment, its structure and mechanism have inspired me to express the mixed feelings of life in different cities.
